Most companies use the urine test for drug testing and while this is a common drug test that most employers use, employees have already found many ways of cheating their way out of a urine test. Urine tests are cheap, fast, and effective, but what employees do to cheat the results is to drink plenty of water before taking the test so that whatever drug residue is left in their system, it will be flushed out from their bodies. This can make the urine drug test a negative dilute test. This means that the diluted urine cannot give an accurate result. There are employers who simply let this go but there are also those who will insist on a restest.
If you undergo a urine test it will be able to detect drug use from drug traces it can pick up used as far back as a week. When an employer suspects drug use in the workplace he should schedule a drug test not later than a week after.
Urine drug tests can come in different forms. The difference is in the number of panels that they use. The number of drugs that are being tested for corresponding to a panel in the drug test. 6-panel and 10-panel drug tests are the popular ones. The 16-panel drug tests can determine 16 kinds of drug traces in the urine.
The new test that many companies are using for drug testing these days is the hair follicle drug test. The reason for this is that follicle tests are more accurate than urine tests. The test can track drug use back 90 to 120 days. As long as 60 to 120 days prior to drug testing, employees who have used drugs within this time period will be tested positive of drug use. A hair follicle test can also reveal the employee’s history of drug taking. Employees have not yet found a perfect way of cheating hair follicle drug testing. In a hair follicle test, they don’t allow you to bring loose samples of your hair because it is easy to switch. The examiner will take hair samples from the back of your head and will be sent to the lab for examination. You might be in trouble if you took drugs within the past 3 or 4 months if you take a hair follicle test unless you know how to pass a hair follicle test. It is more expensive to have a hair follicle drug test than a urine test.
