Girl Scouts of Western Washington
Site Sale Suggestions

Proceeds from the Cookie Sale Program represent more than 50% of Girl Scouts revenue, and allows Girl Scouts of Western Washington to provide program activities, outdoor education, special events, and financial assistance to more than 27,000 girls.

In order to continue providing these services, it is crucial that our community knows that the “world’s largest bake sale” is back in town. To help us achieve this goal, utilize the tried-and-true tips below.

Create an eye-catching display for site sales:

  • Girls should wear a Girl Scout uniform, vest/sash, sweatshirt, T-shirt and/or pin.
  • If a location allows a small table, decorate it with a tablecloth, posters, ribbons, etc. Balloons (20 cents each), tableclothes ($11.95 each) and a car flag ($7.50 each) are available for purchase in the Council Store.
  • Display troop accomplishments, newsletters and/or photos, as well the troop’s goals for how the Cookie Program money will be used.
  • Set out the Gift of Caring/Operation Cookie Drop decorated collection box.

Other keys to a successful site sale:

  • Approach customers as they leave to avoid duplication.
  • Bring two or three cases of Thin Mints and Samoas, one case each of the other varieties and leftover boxes.
  • Bring extra change and site sale permission slips.
  • Check in with the location manager when arriving and checkout before leaving. Please clean up the area after your assigned time is over.
  • Greet people warmly and remain pleasant under all circumstances. Act in a mature manner if a problem arises. Remember, the girls are watching you.
  • Don’t eat, drink, chew gum or smoke at the booth.
  • Write a thank you letter to the location manager.
