Information on this page is intended to help troop cookie managers and parents keep cookie site sales safe, but still enjoyable for all involved.
For additional safety tips, download Safety Wise procedures involving council-sponsored activities (PDF) and universal checkpoints (PDF).
Review these checkpoints with your Girl Scout:
- A friend or adult must always be present with a Brownie or Junior Girl Scout, although it is highly recommended that an adult accompany all girls.
- Do not carry large amounts of money. Make provisions for safeguarding it.
- Girls should learn and practice safety skills as outlined in their handbooks and Safety Wise guidelines. (Refer to council-sponsored activities (PDF) and universal checkpoints (PDF), or ask your troop leader.)
- Use safe pedestrian practices, especially when crossing at busy intersections.
- The troop leader’s phone number, or another designated phone number, must be available for reorders or complaints. Girls should not give out their telephone numbers.
- Girls cannot sell cookies over the internet, although friends and family may be solicited by email.
